To do this, SDC brings together students and early professionals to tackle big challenges. Sponsor Volunteer The Student Design Charette (SDC) is IxDA’s opportunity to showcase young designers from around the globe as they address unmet needs and untapped opportunities. Since 2010, 135 participants from more than 25 countries have been selected to participate in the program. Originally taking place over the week of the Interaction conference, the SDC moved to an online format in 2021, allowing us to scale the program and create a more inclusive experience globally. Each year, IxDA partners with industry or a non-profit agency to set a brief addressing how interaction design can improve the human condition. Our definition of a student covers many ways in which design is learned and practiced today. Applications are accepted from anyone that is currently in or has completed an undergraduate or graduate program, relevant intensive courses or bootcamps, an apprenticeship or internship program, or anyone in their first year as an interaction design professional.
